Victoria Marinova was the administrative director of TVN Television in Ruse, Bulgaria. She was 30 years old, married with one child. On October 6, she went running in a popular public park. The following afternoon her mutilated body was found. She had been brutally raped and murdered.

Marinova had recently televised the first part of a current affairs program that exposed widespread corruption and EU fund fraud perpetrated by international big businessmen and politicians.

Authorities recently arrested a Bulgarian man in Germany and have dismissed claims Marinova’s murder was linked to her reporting. Her death is still being mourned throughout Bulgaria and the world.
